Welcome to the
Southeast Decision Sciences Institute Conference
Dear 2010 SE DSI Attendee:
On behalf of the 2010 SE DSI Program Committee, I would like to welcome you to the Fortieth Annual Meeting of the Southeast Decision Sciences Institute. We've assembled a very informative and exciting program for you that I am sure will provide you with a rewarding and educational experience. There are more than 110 papers, workshops, tutorials, and panels with over 150 individuals participating in some capacity. Given the economy and the restrictions placed on faculty travel to professional meetings, I want to thank you for your attendance and your efforts to make this conference a success. Furthermore, this conference will serve as an excellent networking opportunity to reacquaint with old friends and colleagues as well as to meet new ones from all around the country.
Allow me to remind you of a few important things as you settle in to Wilmington, NC:
- Your name badge is required for admission to all meeting sessions and events.
- Please let someone at the registration desk know as soon as possible if you are going to attend the President's Luncheon on Friday at noon so we can have an accurate head count. A luncheon ticket is in your packet. If you would like an additional ticket, we have guest luncheon tickets available at the registration desk for $30.00 each.
- The Annual SE DSI Business meeting will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Carolina Room. Please plan to attend and be part of the future of this organization.
- The President's Reception will be on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. Two drink tickets are included in your registration packet; additional drinks can be purchased at the event.
- We have four student papers this year, and the student paper presentations will be on Friday morning at 8 a.m. in the McRae Room. Please attend these sessions to support the students and be introduced to your future colleagues.
- Please take a few moments to complete the Meeting Evaluation Form included in your packet and return it to the registration desk prior to your departure. In the event that you can't leave the form at the registration desk, please mail the form to me. Your feedback is important so that we can make the conference even better next year.
I want to personally thank you for allowing me to serve as your Program Chair for this year's meeting, and I want to thank all the members of the Program Committee for their contributions. In addition, I would be remiss if I didn't thank the following individuals: Tracy J. McCoy who made my job significantly easier by doing all of the "little things" to make this conference come together; Dr. Tabitha James, who served as my Associate Program Chair; Dr. Bernard "Chuck" Taylor III, my Department Chair, who supported me unconditionally throughout the planning of this conference; Dr. Al Avery for his expertise in Conference Management System and managing the Proceedings. I also want to thank all of you who have made this conference possible by submitting papers, serving as session chairs, discussants, reviewers, and doing all other countless things required for us to have a successful meeting. Last, and certainly not least, I want to give a special thanks to all of the organizations that have provided financial support.
If your schedule permits, please get out and enjoy some low country cuisine or tour the many attractions that Wilmington has to offer. It is full of history, culture, and southern charm.
Have a great visit and enjoy the conference!!
